Keep Away from People Who Try to Belittle Your Ambitions

Happy Friday: Did you wake up this morning with the Goal to be Mediocre?

A friend of mine Connie Dorigan of Dorigan+Associates an International Recruiting Firm in Lake Oswego, Oregon, of and for the Food Processing Industry, Emerging Tech and Software Industry “Talent” shared this Mark Twain quote that is timely as I am about to Reflect and Contemplate 2016.

Mark Twain

Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great ones make you feel that you, too, can become great…
– Mark Twain

When you are seeking to bring big plans to fruition it is important with whom you regularly associate. Hang out with friends who are like-minded and who are also designing purpose-filled lives. Similarly, be “that” kind of a friend for your friends.

By 2008 during the Great Economic Collapse, I stopped and took notice and stock of those around me during those very Stressful and Financially Challenging times. Many around me also suffered the brunt of poor National Leadership that culminated into the Great Recession of 2008.

And then, it finally dawned on me; Who around me were “Assets” (Givers, Contributors, and Collaborators) to my life, and who were “Liabilities” (Takers; the “Me, Me, Me” people; the “All About Them” types). It did not take me long to weed-out those who DRAINED ME (sucked my creativity out of me; those who contacted me ONLY when they wanted something) — You know the type.

My life has become much simpler, effective and efficient since I’ve closed the doors on those who are “Takers”. If that’s you, now you know why I’m not in your life.

Anyway, Thank you for the inspiration Connie Dorigan (@ConnieDorigan) Dorigan.com
