Tabatas: High-Intensity Interval-Training
I’ve Been Ignoring Tabatas For Way Way Too Long
Tabata training is a popular form of High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). It consists of eight rounds of ultra-high-intensity exercises in a specific 20-seconds-on, 10-seconds-off intervals.
I Love Simple
Remember last month I was celebrating getting my butt kicked by 8th-Grade Calisthenics? Still true, but WOW, what a workout. I’m SOLD!
Why I #LOVE Tabatas
- 1. The Workout is Fast
– Anywhere from 8 to 20 minutes and I’m done
– OR, I can choose to keep going
– More Work means More Calories Burned - 2. I Don’t Have to Learn Anything New
– I’m recycling old Grade-School Exercises
– Think: Burpees, Mountain Climbers, Jumping Jacks, High Knee Lifts
– Start slow to ensure good technique (come on, they’re Jumping Jacks)
– Gradually increase “Intensity”
– More “Intensity” mean more “Work”
– More “Work”; mean more Calories Burned
